Taking training to a whole new level.

KX Barre is the first studio to utilise 2 barres, taking Barre training to a whole new level!  This 50 minute class will tone and strengthen muscles, improve posture and alignment, whilst increasing flexibility and range of movement.

Your fun and energetic team of instructors will ensure you get an awesome full body workout developed from a mixture of ballet barre exercises, KX Pilates and cardiovascular fitness training, resulting in a stronger and leaner physique.

Pregnancy and KX Barre

Providing you have no serious medical conditions and you do not have any complications during pregnancy, our regular KX Barre Sculpt and Cardio classes can be participated in up until the 15th week of pregnancy.  Beyond this, Barre Bump is the perfect way for you to continue exercising.

KX Barre Class Types

Barre Basics

Designed for beginners, this class will run at a slower pace and break down the key KX Barre signature exercises, so you can learn the correct technique and build your confidence at your own pace.

Barre Sculpt

Is for all levels, with different exercise modifications given throughout the class. Designed to strengthen, lengthen and tone your muscles. A full body workout that emphasises correct technique, form and alignment.

Barre Cardio

Interval training mixed with short periods of recovery designed to burn more calories, trim and tone your body!

We recommend you have a attended at least 2 Barre Sculpt classes before joining and are injury free. If you’re unsure, please speak to an instructor beforehand who can offer you more advice.

Barre Bump

A prenatal class specially designed for those of you expecting.  Based on the KX Barre technique, this class combines strength training, light cardio and gentle stretching.  Perfect for your body during pregnancy.

Barre Baby

A post natal class designed for mums and bubs, focusing  on reconditioning the body after birth with the support of your baby in a carrier (up to 15kgs or 18 months).  Carriers will be available in studio to hire.  *The classes are not suitable for pregnant women.

Frequently Asked Questions About KX Barre

How does KX Barre differ to KX Pilates?

Whilst your KX Pilates exercises re-align and strengthen the body using added resistance from your reformers, KX Barre uses the body’s own weight to isolate, strengthen and sculpt all major muscle groups. Small props are used in the class to enhance the workout and exercises in this class take place at the ballet barre and on mats.

What do I need to know for my first class?

Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first class so you can familiarise yourself with the studio, fill out a registration form and meet your trainer. If you’re late to your first class you might not be able to train. We recommend gym tights/leggings or shorts and either a t-shirt or singlet top. Although most clients prefer to train in bare feet, socks are most welcome. Apart from that you are in good hands! We provide complimentary towels and drinking water and have changing facilities on site.

Will KX Barre help me lose weight?

Yes, the class combines cardio based exercises that require intense bursts of energy producing high caloric burn and deep isometric stretches giving you firmer muscle tone.

How often should I attend KX Barre classes in order to see and feel a difference?

3 times a week is a great goal to aim for. The classes will also be a great addition to your weekly pilates classes. Because exercise is such a personal thing, how often you train will depend on your own fitness level, how your body adapts to the training and how well your body can recover. It also depends on what your fitness goals are and what you do outside of KX classes. We recommend starting with no more than two to three classes per week and then increasing from there.

Can I still do KX Barre classes if I have an injury?

It will all depend on your injury and your road to recovery. It’s best to speak to one of our trainers before participating in a class to make sure you’re not putting yourself at risk of further damage. In some cases, you may need to get a medical certificate from your GP before you can attend or start with a one-on-one class to assess if classes will be appropriate in the future.  KX Barre is low impact meaning that there is little pressure on your joints. You may find that this class is more suited to you than other exercise classes because of this.

Do I need to have dance experience to do the class?

Not at all, although some exercises in the class are based on ballet barre training you most certainly do not have to be a prima ballerina to participate! This class is designed for men and women of all abilities helping you to achieve a dancer like physique without having to put on a tutu. Your balance, coordination and flexibility will also improve massively by doing these classes so don’t worry if this is an issue.
